"From the moment we arrived we felt the calm and peace, we soon lost track of time and took in the splendor of nature. My husband and I stayed for 1 entire week and wanted to never leave.
The home and the environment provide such an unmeasured amount of comfort and relaxation. Daily visits from a young buck, a surprise siting of a fox, and our absolute favourite were the Loons on the lake, a call like no other that carries across the clear waters through your window as you drift off to sleep in the comfort of a king size bed.
Our hosts were top notch, seeing to our every need ( which was few as the home is well stocked). We fell in love with Horsefly, the people and the pace of life. A hidden jem awaiting the next lucky renter. We will highly recommend this property and will indeed be guests again."

"We had a fantastic time vacationing at Birch Haven. It is a beautiful spot to relax and unwind. This was by far the best cottage we have ever rented, from a fully equipped kitchen to lots of good quality patio furniture available for use. Having a fridge down at the lake was great for keeping things nice and cool and saving the steps up to the cottage. It is a very peaceful property!
Remco was an amazing host, from meeting us when we arrived to ensuring everything was in place for us to have a great vacation. When we notified him that the BBQ had died, not only did he respond to our email immediately but he had a brand new unit assembled and delivered within 24 hours. It was very difficult to leave and we would definitely rent this property again! Many thanks to Remco for an unforgettable holiday!!!"

"Birch Haven is that perfect combination of complete urban comfort and classic BC lakeside cabin setting. The house is so well built and comfortable that it is a fabulous home-from-home in any season. The lake itself is perfect for swimming and canoeing or kayaking, the waterfront is safe and friendly for even small children to play in the water when supervised.
Even the local village of Horsefly is a great experience; being home to artists, ranches, a pub and general store straight out of BC history, fantastic landscape surrounding the area, and places to explore. We had a fabulous break!
This is an idyllic private or family summer retreat, highly recommended."

"If you are looking for a place where you can really relaxing - Birch Haven is the right. We enjoyed this beautiful place one week in September and it was very havy to go at the end. The cottage is well equiped and has a wonderful view over the lake. On the own dock you can indulge in your thoughts, or during a trip with the boat... In the morning you can watch the fog from the bed when is raising from the water... in the evening we enjoyed a cozy fire in the oven.
Erin and Remco are very kind hosts and do everything that the guest are feel well, thank you very much. This cottage is really recommendable!"

"We had a wonderful stay at Birch Haven - what a beautiful cottage - with wall to wall windows letting in the sunshine. We had an amazing time in this immaculate home away from home overlooking pristine Horsefly Lake where the wildlife is abundant and the loons will sing you to sleep. If you want quiet- this is the place for you and the sunsets are amazing.
Our hosts Remco and Erin have thought of everything to make your stay so relaxing - there is nothing they have not thought of to make you stay absolutely enjoyable. Talk about thoughtful - on our last day our power was out and about 9:30 our host Remco shows up at the cottage with coffee and cookies (home baked) in hand - it was just what we needed!!!

"My children and I enjoyed Birch Haven this past weekend. We made full use of the property. In the evenings while it rained we did some of the puzzles that are offered onsite. We loved waking up to the beautiful views and the sounds of the birds.
My kids enjoyed playing with frogs and chopping wood and just all in all being outside looking at all things nature. We borrowed the row boat and did a day excursion over to the provincial park which made for a fun easy outing. At night its so quiet and peaceful and even enjoyed the sound of the rain on the roof.
The cabin is super clean and very comfortable for our family of 5. It is well stocked with pretty much everything you need and the robes are a nice touch. The beds and pillows are a DREAM. We had the best sleeps. We enjoyed the big table for puzzles and games and enjoyed a few meals on the deck with the mosquitos (lol).
Its so nice to have a getaway where you just show up with whatever clothes, food and a cold beverage or two and you are literally in paradise. Thanks for having us!!!"

"We booked this cabin as our home base while we were getting married in the area. The cabin has all the amenities we needed and more. There is a full kitchen with stocked cupboards for cooking, pots, pans, dishes, utensils, kettle, coffee maker, everything.
There are 2 bathrooms, both have showers and were clean. There's laundry machines too. The beds were very comfortable and Remco even made sure there was space for my bridesmaids on one night.
The cabin has a really nice homey feeling which made it relaxing. It also has a beautiful view. The cabin has direct access to the lake and they have a rowboat at their dock. There is a firepit in the backyard and wood is available to use which is great.
Overall a great spot to stay in Horsefly. I was able to visit several other cabins in the area as my family was occupying the majority of them and I honestly preferred this one. You get the place to yourself but Remco is nearby in case you have questions. We plan on going back for an anniversary.

"We stayed a week in Birch Haven in late september and enjoyed the autumn days in a beautiful cottage surrounded by nature and a wonderful scenery.
he house is fully stocked with everything you need - and more. The master bedroom has the most stunning views across the lake and everything else is also as advertised. The Wifi helps to stay connected with the outside world in an otherwise secluded location away from it all.
Remco welcomed us the first night and had a lot of recommendations to make the most of our stay in Horsefly and above. The village itself, some 14 kilometres from Birch Haven, has a very well stocked general store, a gas station and also a pub.
We were looking for a break from the busy city and that is exactly what we found."

"My wife and I recently stayed at Birch Haven. What an amazing cottage! Typically, you find places that look good online and then disappoint when you arrive. Birch Haven is very different.
Remco is an amazing host and the pictures he posts are exactly what you get. It is quiet, clean, and fully stocked for a great stay. We enjoyed everyday on the lake swimming, fishing, and suntanning on the large dock. The rowboat was a great addition to our stay. We used it to get out on the lake and enjoy the view. Wifi was excellent and enabled us to stay a bit connected.
If you are looking to get away from it all and enjoy beautiful BC, this is your place!!!"

"Birch Haven is a great place for a getaway. Horsefly Lake is a beautiful clear lake that was great for swimming. The kids love jumping off the dock and played for hours in the water. "We had a memorable time at Remco's place in mid-July. Diving down thru water clear to the bottom and canoeing at dusk are what stick with me. Others in the family enjoyed lazing on the deck and hunting berries - which were not plentiful this summer. We came prepared for horseflies and didn't encounter even one. Remco was a pleasure to deal with and talk to. Heartily recommended if any of the above speak to you."

"We stayed for three nights at Remco’s property. We had a chance to talk to him directly as he came to the property to visit us. The lake view was incredibly awesome. The property was very clean and well equipped. We were welcome to use the boat and other equipment such as life jackets, chairs and etc.
Although our stay was perfect, we had a difficulty to find the house, especially at night since there was no unit number on the road. In addition to this, the guest should know that they have to drive about 11 Km on unpaved road (horsefly lake road).
Remco wad open to communication and he responded quickly every time.
Unfortunately, we expected to found three bedrooms (as mentioned in the house description); however, Remco”s property has only two bedrooms (rather than three bedrooms). Since the location is remote, there was no signal coverage there at all.
Finally, I got surprised when we want to check out as Remco asked us to take care of the garbage. Actually, we were asked to carry the garbage and damp it somewhere else rather than leave it for the landlord to take care of that after our stay. All in all, it is a perfect place to relax and stay remote."

"We spent two AMAZING weeks at Birch Haven in August 2021, and all I can say is WOW!! This place is absolutely incredible, even more impressive in person than it looks in the photos. We travelled as a family of 4 with our 2 kids, ages 4&6. It was one of the best holidays we've ever had (and we travel a lot!).
For starters, Remco, our host, was wonderful. He was always available at a moments notice if we needed him, and otherwise he left us to enjoy our privacy.
The cabin is stunning, what a view!! It's extremely clean, and unbelievably well stocked. I was so impressed with all the extras on hand, there's even a nice big laundry basket! Things like that make a big difference when staying for an extended period. The kitchen has anything you may need, from cooking utensils, to Saran Wrap, tinfoil, baking staples, spices, and even lots of Tupperware to store leftovers. Anything we needed, we found.
The lake is UNREAL. We brought our boat and it was an easy launch from the provincial park right across the lake. There are a lot of stairs down to the water, but we actually enjoyed the exercise! The lower patio has a little storage building which has a mini fridge, this was so handy to keep water and drinks down by dock!
We had a few guests come to stay, and made use of the guest cabin which sits in the grassy yard between the main house and the lake. It's very clean and beautifully furnished.
I'm so impressed with Birch Haven and we will 100% be back next year!"

"Birch Haven is a beautiful, private cabin with gorgeous lake views. The waterfront deck above the dock was a fantastic and uncommon feature. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate on our trip, so we were unable to go in the lake, but we hung out on the dock and waterfront deck a bit. The cabin was very clean, and the kitchen was extremely well stocked, which made cooking for a family easier. Our host left us a bottle of wine and stopped by briefly after we checked in to answer any questions. For anyone who isn't used to traveling to remote areas - there is no cell service for most of the time after you turn onto Likely road, and while GPS works, it tells you that you've arrived almost a kilometer before you have truly arrived. Our host provided excellent directions, though, so you should have no trouble finding the cabin. If you turn on wifi calling before you arrive, you will be able to make calls and text, as the cabin does have wifi. Would highly recommend Birch Haven!"
